Local Earth Day Events


Earth Day is April 22 and the annual observance was planned by AFFEW (A Few Friends for the Environment of the World) for Saturday, April 21. The 2018 events were held at the United Methodist Church, 5810 Bryant Road, Ludington.

The 2018 Earth Day theme was "Woods, Water and Wheels: Nature, Get Out and Love It."

The 2018 schedule included the following events:

9am - Guided Nature Visualization Meditation, Al Haslam
9:30am - Qigong, Lynne Onuma

11am-12pm - Workshops
Young Living - Essential Oils
Backyard fruit orchard - Dave Jones
Republic Recycling - Matt Biolette
1pm-2pm - Workshops

Food & Drink available all day. Silent Auction awards at 4:35pm; raffle drawing at 4:45pm.

Other Earth Day activities held at

Sandcastles Children's Museum, 129 E. Ludington Ave., will host an Earth Day Tree Craft on Friday, April 20 for toddlers and preschoolers from 10am-1pm. On Saturday, April 21, Sandcastles hosts a Planting for Earth Day with recyclable containers from 10am-3pm. Admission for both events is $7/person with under 1 free; Sandcastles members are also free.
